Preparation Guide
Christmas Mini Session
HELLO
Thank you so much for being a part of my Christmas mini sessions! I wanted to share a quick style guide and some helpful information to get you ready for the day.
Please take a few minutes to read through this.
How to prepare
Location
We will be shooting at my in-home studio located at 107 Osborne Street, Melfort.
Please use the side door under the carport when you arrive.
Arrive on time
Please arrive no more than 5 minutes early, as space in the studio is limited and I want to ensure each session receives my full attention.
If you arrive late, the time will be deducted from your session since I am booked back-to-back throughout the day.
Vision
The vision for this year’s mini sessions is fun, bright, and festive, inspired by a classic red-and-white candy-cane theme. The setup includes oversized presents, peppermint props, and a clean white backdrop so your family really pops in the photos.
We’ll capture a mix of seated, standing, and floor-level poses. The goal is simply to have fun and enjoy some festive moments together in front of my lens!
WHAT TO WEAR
Red!! - I highly recommend incorporating red into your outfits!
Think: a red dress, a red sweater with jeans or neutral pants, a plain red shirt, pajamas with red details, red bows—the options are endless.
Because the entire set is red and white, choosing something within that palette will help your photos feel cohesive. If you prefer to wear something outside the theme, that’s totally okay too!
In general, simple is better.
No logos - If possible, no logos. You want your images to be timeless.
No shoes in the studio
Please remove shoes upon entering the studio.
Wearing slides makes this quick and easy!
Because the backdrop is white and foot traffic is high during minis, this helps keep the set clean.
If you’d like to wear shoes in your photos, please bring them in a separate bag and ensure the soles are very clean before putting them on.
TOP TIPS
Arrive early! 10 minutes early should be plenty. This way you’re not stressing out and you can relax in the car for a few minutes
Plan your children’s sleep for that day if your session is during their sleep time.
Feed your children before the session to ensure they’re full and happy. Arrive a little earlier and do this in the car if needed.
Clean everyone's face - (eyes, nose, mouth), it’s amazing what is always left behind. I have wipes in the studio for you to use too.
Remove all hair ties or kids watches before the shoot to ensure no marks are there.
All dressed - Come dressed in your outfit as there will be no time to do this during the 20 minutes. Only shoes to be put on in studio
